This is what I received from the devs regarding your question:

We won't be touching any of the old stats — up until the switch,
we'll be processing stats the old way. Furthermore, nothing will
change with how we report user agents. "Slinky" will still show up
for this user… we anticipate less "noise" in the numbers, but we
won't be filtering out anything like that. Basically, if it's a
legitimate request, we count it.

for now. We will be phasing out the current stats interface in the
very near future, but for this release we wanted to minimize how much

I'm pretty sure most of my listeners stream the episodes online rather than use a smart phone. (crazy, I know!) but having those streams in the stats would be nice!
