I've communicated your issues to the devs. They are very much looking for feedback and this points out a lot of issues that we need to be looking at more clearly.

Thanks so much!

There absolutely is a need for an audio player. The fact that this is a media player acting mostly as a video player is a problem where it's embedded on a site (ie a site page for podcasts) and users hitting that page on a phone (in this case, Android) get the video initializing full-screen.

That is totally unexpected behavior when the page should load, and then the user would hit which podcast they want to listen to.

It just seems strange, unless I am mistaken, that Libsyn is big for podcast hosting yet I can't display podcast audio properly.

I have also seen a problem in Firefox where the player sits dormant for a few minutes then starts playing. In Chrome it starts right away (actually, is there a way to NOT have it auto-start?). Is the file loading up the whole time before it plays in Firefox?

Thanks.

In fact, the problem is that it does not load episodes in IE9. Supposedly, Libsyn got it working in Firefox, but the next day they weren't working again, and came up with error codes. But it has never worked in IE. Every blog entry that had the player in it is now a black box. It's been about 6 days since Libsyn told me that it probably had something to do with my media files. Media files that have worked fine for my past FIVE YEARS on Libsyn. I'm starting to get the suspicion that it's somehow MY fault that the new player is broken. Very frustrating. The old player worked fine. When is someone gonna admit there is a problem with the new player???

We really appreciate you voicing your needs. We are absolutely open to feedback, in fact we ask for it all the time and wish we could get more of it!

Regarding the current player, although it's not an "audio" player per say, it does play audio. and can be used as an audio player, although, I hear you that it's not an AUDIO player proper. An audio only player would absolutely enhance our offerings a ton. (In my opinion)

To be honest not very many folks have requested an audio player proper. In our search for feedback, there have been very few requests for one.

Perhaps we should conduct a survey and see if folks really do want one, or find other ways for podcasters to get feedback back to us.

We are open and listening!
